Part of the Massaro Construction Group mission is to build stronger communities, and that can be achieved in many different ways.

One of which is to mentor our youth and teach them about the diverse career opportunities in the construction industry. We provide a variety of internships in an effort to showcase what the industry has to offer. Sydney Edelstein, a junior at Fox Chapel Area High School, is currently completing her marketing internship with Massaro CMS. Here is what she had to say at the start of her internship.

What are the top three things you want to learn during this internship?
One thing I want to gain from this internship is a greater knowledge of computer programs such as Excel and Adobe Photoshop. These applications seem to be extremely important in business. I would also like to gain a better sense of what Marketing for a large corporation entails. This will help me to proceed in my projected career path by exposing me to real world scenarios. In addition, I would like to gain the skill of sales. I have not experienced sales as much as I have experienced Marketing, and I feel that it would be a useful skill to have no matter what my future entails.

What most interested you about this opportunity with Massaro?
I was most interested in this internship because I have continuously participated in Marketing related activities throughout this year and last year, and I have found great interest in it. This internship will help me to further my interest and give me some hands on experience with Marketing for a large company.

Six years from now, what career do you think you’ll have?
I am planning on majoring in Marketing in college, and in six years, I think I will have a career in Marketing for a company. Ultimately, I am hoping to end up as a Marketing Account Manager.

What other extracurricular activities do you participate in?
I am extremely involved in my youth group, and serve as a position on the regional board. I also am a member of the rue21 teen advisory board where I assist the store in making fashion and business decisions with other teens. Recently, I have been volunteering weekly at the Center for Women. I post on various social media sites to promote their programs for women in transition. Additionally, I dance at Point Park University.

A Trusted Partner

"During the school year, our entire building is being renovated in three different phases and two of those phases are occurring while students are in the building. To this point there has been little disruption to our learning environment given the scope of the work. The two on-site managers are professional, productive, and able to answer my questions as the project moves along. Massaro has my recommendation for this type of work in the future."

-Robert Scherrer, Ed. D., Principal at Pittsburgh Science and Technology Academy

"Their level of professionalism, dedication, and commitment to the safety and success of a project is resolute from the beginning to the very end. They have displayed all of the qualities of a true partner and I am grateful for the positive experience that I have had with this team of professionals."

-Leonard Corazzi, Director of Finance and Operations at Bethel Park School District
