Opportunities beyond construction

Sneak peek of what the construction website for Fox Chapel Area School District will look like

Massaro CM Services is committed to serving the communities in which we work.

As the Construction Manager of many K-12 building projects, we believe in providing students attending these school districts with opportunities to learn about the construction industry as well as other business opportunities. When we started working with Fox Chapel Area School District, we collaborated with the High School Administration and Guidance Department to develop some internships to engage high school students.

Starting this past November, Massaro CM Services hired four Fox Chapel Area School District students, Stephanie Buzzatto, Cole Ryan, Josh Dunlap, and Brad Jamiolkowski as interns to help us develop a website specifically for the construction projects planned for the School District. All four of our web designers are juniors at the high school, and the site they have helped design will be used as a tool for the high school’s Administration and Massaro to keep the community and parents informed about what is happening throughout the projects. Stay tuned; we plan to launch the site by the end of the week!

In addition, we hired John Hartsock, a senior at the high school, as an engineering intern. John is currently working with our Project Engineer managing the online plan room while the high school project is out for bid. Once the project is under construction, John will be on the jobsite working directly with our project team.

We also have plans to hire a marketing intern and interviews have been scheduled to select the right student for the position. This intern will work directly with our business development team to assist with Requests for Proposals (RFPs), market research, and other business development related tasks.

We are excited to work with these young people and plan to continue providing these types of opportunities in other school districts in which we work.

What other types of opportunities do you think would engage students throughout the construction process? Please share your ideas in the comments!
